Privacy
The short version: no account, no email, no lead capture. The tool is designed so there's almost nothing about you to collect in the first place.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no email, no phone, no SSN. You never sign up. The verdict is yours without handing over anything.
- No lead selling. We don't collect your details to sell to lenders. When you want to compare rates, you leave for a partner site; we're not in the middle of that transaction with your data.
Your address and the value estimate
When you click "Get my property estimate," your address is sent once to our family's shared value-lookup service (hosted by our sister site, GoCheckMyHome), which forwards it to RentCast, an automated home-valuation provider, to fetch an estimate. RentCast receives the address in order to return a value, under its own privacy policy. Your loan numbers are not sent with it.
If you'd rather skip the lookup entirely, type a value from Zillow or Redfin instead; the verdict is identical either way.
Where the math happens
Your loan numbers (balance, original value, loan type, PMI) are used to compute your verdict in your own browser.
Servicer complaint lookup
The servicer complaint checker queries the CFPB's public Consumer Complaint Database directly from your browser. When you look up a servicer, your browser sends that company name to the CFPB and receives the public complaint figures back; the CFPB receives standard request data, such as your IP address, under its own policy. No account, address, or loan details are sent with it.
Analytics
We use privacy-focused, cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand aggregate site traffic. It does not use cookies or track you across sites, and it is not tied to your address or loan details.
Hosting and server logs
This site is hosted on Netlify. Like essentially all web hosts, Netlify automatically records standard technical request logs (which can include your IP address, the time of the request, and the page requested) to support security, reliability, and troubleshooting. These logs are handled under Netlify's own terms and privacy policy; we don't use them to identify individual visitors.
Fonts
Our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts. To deliver a font, Google receives the request for it, which includes your IP address, under Google's own privacy policy. This is standard for sites that use Google Fonts, and it is used to serve the font, not to identify you to us.
Scripts and content delivery
A few optional features (for example, saving your result as a PDF) load a small script from cdnjs, a content delivery network operated by Cloudflare. To deliver the script, Cloudflare receives standard request data, such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy. The script runs in your own browser; nothing about your result is uploaded.
